Financial Responsibilities
At Cub Scout Pack 117, we are committed to providing a fun, safe, and enriching Scouting experience while keeping participation as affordable as possible for every family. Through responsible budgeting, dedicated volunteers, and annual fundraising efforts, we strive to minimize out-of-pocket costs while delivering a high-quality program.
Family participation in Pack fundraisers is strongly encouraged, as these efforts help support Pack operations, reduce program expenses, and ensure we can continue offering exciting activities and advancement opportunities throughout the year.
Annual Registration & Membership Dues
Scouting America National Registration – $85.00 per Scout
This annual registration fee is required for every youth member and supports Scouting America at the national level.
- New Members: Paid online during the initial registration process.
- Renewing Members: Paid to Pack 117 during the Scout's annual renewal.
Scout Life Magazine – $15.00 (Optional)
Scout Life Magazine is an optional annual subscription available to all Scouts. Families may choose whether or not to subscribe.
- New Members: Paid online during the initial registration process.

Blue Mountain Council Annual Dues – $50.00 per Scout
This annual fee supports local Scouting programs, camps, training, properties, and council operations.

Pack 117 Annual Dues
Lions through Webelos: $252.00 per Scout
Arrow of Light: $176.00 per Scout
Pack dues help cover many of the expenses necessary to operate a successful Cub Scout program, including: -
- Annual recharter expenses
- Adult leader registration support
- Pack meetings and activities
- Program supplies
- Awards and rank advancements
- Den meeting materials
- Administrative expenses
- General Pack operations
By collecting annual dues, the Pack is able to provide a comprehensive program without requiring families to pay separately for most advancement items, awards, or routine Pack activities.
Uniforms & Handbooks
Uniforms and handbooks are the responsibility of each Scout's family. Costs vary based on rank and the items needed.
To help reduce expenses, many uniform components can be reused as Scouts advance or passed down between family members and other Scouts.
Additional Optional Expenses
Some optional activities are not included in annual Pack dues and may require an additional fee.
Examples include:
- Pack Family Campouts: Costs vary depending on the campground, campsite fees, and meal expenses.
- Council Events: Fees vary by event. Past activities have ranged from approximately $2.50 to $45.00 per participant.
- Summer Camps: Costs depend on the camp selected. In previous years, Day Camp has been approximately $65 per Scout, while overnight resident camps have typically started around $250 per Scout, with additional parent participation fees for certain programs.
Fundraising Opportunities
Pack 117 offers several fundraising opportunities throughout the year to help families offset the cost of Scouting. Participation is voluntary but strongly encouraged. Fundraising supports both individual Scouts and the Pack, helping provide quality programming, equipment, activities, and advancement opportunities while keeping annual dues as affordable as possible.

Payment plans, financial assistance, or other resources may be available. We are committed to working with every family to ensure that no youth misses the opportunity to participate because of financial barriers.
