Kennewick Church of the Nazarene
Kennewick Nazarene Church is a Christian church in the Tri-Cities community whose mission is to Love God, Love Others, and Make Disciples. Founded in Kennewick in 1924, the church has a long history of serving local families and investing in the community. Today, Kennewick Nazarene welcomes people of all ages and seeks to create a place where individuals and families can grow in faith, build meaningful relationships, and serve others.
Supporting Cub Scout Pack 117
Through this partnership, the church provides a home and supportive community for our Pack while helping us carry out the mission of Scouting.
As our chartered organization, Kennewick Nazarene helps provide a meeting location, supports Pack leadership, and partners with our volunteers to provide a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for youth and families. The church's support allows Pack 117 to offer opportunities for Scouts to learn, explore, serve their community, develop leadership skills, and grow in character.
Our partnership reflects a shared commitment to helping young people become responsible, confident, caring members of their families and communities. While Scouting and the church are separate organizations, our shared relationship allows Pack 117 to benefit from the church's support and community presence while remaining a Cub Scout program operated according to Scouting America policies and guidelines.
We are grateful to Kennewick Nazarene Church for opening its doors to Pack 117 and for supporting the Scouts, families, and volunteers who make our Pack possible.
This partnership is a two-way relationship built on service, community, and shared values. As the church supports our Scouts and provides a welcoming place for our Pack to grow, Pack 117 is proud to give back by supporting the church, serving our community, and participating in opportunities that strengthen the church and those it serves. Together, we are creating opportunities for youth to learn, serve, lead, and make a positive difference.

Honoring Our Flag Through Service
By helping maintain the church’s flagpole and responsibly raising and lowering the American flag, our Scouts learn that respect is shown through action. They practice proper flag etiquette, teamwork, responsibility, and attention to detail while learning the importance of caring for something that represents our country and community.
This service project also teaches Scouts the value of helping others, being trustworthy, and taking pride in a job well done. Each time a Scout raises or lowers the flag, they have an opportunity to serve their chartered organization and demonstrate what it means to be a good citizen and a helpful member of the community.
Growing Skills Through Service
Through building and maintaining a community garden, our Scouts learn that growing something takes teamwork, patience, responsibility, and care. From preparing the garden and planting seeds to watering, weeding, harvesting, and helping maintain the space, Scouts gain hands-on experience while making a positive impact in their community.
The garden also provides opportunities to practice the Scout Law—being Helpful, Kind, Thrifty, Responsible, and Cheerful—while learning about nature, healthy food, conservation, and the importance of giving back.
They’re not just growing a garden—they’re growing skills, confidence, and a stronger community.
