My Scouting Story
My scouting journey began recently in 2025 when both of my sons joined scouts. Seeing both of them enjoy the adventure convinced me to step up and become a den leader.
A Bit About Me
This will be my first year as a den leader. My career has mostly been in food services, spanning a 40-year run from dishwasher to chef in every position of the kitchen.
I still love to play D&D and disc golf when I have the time, and I hope my kids have as much fun as I do.
My Why
My kids are high energy, crave new experiences, and are always curious about exploration. Scouting provides us with an environment that safely encourages that natural curiosity.
Favorite Memories
Our Blue Mountain Day camp at Two Rivers, especially the winging-it plane crash survivor series. Seeing the kids love going through so many different activities and adventures throughout the day.
That pivotal moment when the kids started thinking of scouting as a real adventure rather than just a weekly meeting.
As a Leader
Both of my parents were teachers, so instruction and clear communication come easily to me, along with a continuing desire to learn.
It is important to remember that we are leading children, so keeping things fun and engaging while guiding them is paramount.

Go for it and jump in to see if you like it.
The worst that can happen is maybe you meet some new friends.

My Scouting Journey
Scouting is a way for my littles and me to grow, learn, and have fun together. Life is an adventure, and I love that Scouting gives us so many opportunities to experience it together.
A Little About Me
Scouting is a second-generation tradition in my family, but this is only my second year in a leadership role. I’ve discovered that I have just as much fun as the kids do—and honestly, I think that’s one of the best parts of being involved in Scouting!
My Why
Of course, the fun is a huge part of it, but my family also navigates neurodiversity—which we lovingly call being “neurospicy.” Scouting gives my kids a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where they can build social skills, try new things, and learn alongside others. It’s a place where everyone encourages each other, celebrates differences, and has room to be themselves.
As a Leader
My goal is to create a safe place where kids can grow, learn, and discover who they are. I want them to know that it’s okay to make mistakes, try again, and not have everything figured out. We’re all here to learn, have fun, and do our best together.
My Favorite Scouting Memories
There are so many that it’s hard to choose just a few! Some of my favorites include learning more about electricity during our visit to the PUD, visiting the fire station and getting to climb into the firetruck, and Camp Grizzly, where we swam in a lake, went boating, and enjoyed plenty of s’mores. Those are the moments that remind me just how much adventure Scouting brings.
