September 17th - Bobcat Adventure
The Bobcat Adventure is the first adventure every new Cub Scout completes, regardless of whether they join as a Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, or Arrow of Light.
But Bobcat isn't just about earning another patch.
It is designed to help a new Scout learn the basics of what it means to be part of Scouting America. Scouts are introduced to things like:
- What the Scout Oath and Scout Law mean
- How to participate in a Scout-led group
- The importance of teamwork and helping others
- Basic Scout traditions and expectations
- How to make safe, responsible choices
- What it means to be a member of their den and pack
Most importantly, Bobcat helps give a new Scout a starting point.
A Scout who joins in Kindergarten and a Scout who joins in 4th or 5th grade may be at very different places developmentally, but Bobcat gives them both an opportunity to learn the foundational ideas of Scouting together.
Think of Bobcat as the front door to Scouting.
