Cub Scout Pack 117 Parent Commitment

Cub Scouting is a family-centered program, and active parent involvement is essential to providing a positive, successful, and meaningful experience for every Scout. While Den Leaders and Pack Leaders provide guidance, instruction, and opportunities for growth, parents and guardians play a critical role in supporting their Scout’s participation, development, and advancement.

As a parent or guardian of a Cub Scout, you are expected to support your Scout by:

• Encouraging consistent attendance at den meetings, pack meetings, and scheduled activities.
• Ensuring your Scout arrives prepared, on time, and wearing the appropriate uniform as outlined by Pack expectations.
• Assisting your Scout with advancement requirements and encouraging them to complete Adventures and rank requirements.
• Remaining informed by attending parent meetings, reviewing Pack communications, and staying connected with your Scout’s Den Leader.
• Providing support and volunteer assistance to the Pack when needed to help maintain a successful program for all Scouts and families.

Advancement Support & Den Meeting Expectations

Den meetings are structured opportunities for Scouts to complete Adventures and requirements necessary to earn their rank. Den Leaders plan and facilitate activities that allow Scouts to learn new skills, demonstrate character, and progress through the Cub Scout program.

Parents are responsible for helping ensure their Scout remains on track with advancement. If a Scout misses a den meeting or activity, parents should communicate with the Den Leader to understand what requirements were covered and determine any necessary steps to help their Scout make up missed work.
